Home/Find a Journey/Honeymoon Collection
Small camps, your own vehicle and guide, and the Indian Ocean at the end of it. The itineraries we build most often for two people.
COL-05 · Jan, Feb, Jun…
A honeymoon is not a discount, it is a different itinerary. Fewer, better camps. A private vehicle so no morning runs to anybody else's schedule. And the coast at the end, never at the start.
Game viewing
How reliably you see a lot, without luck.
Weather
Dry, clear and predictable, versus not.
Few vehicles
How much of a sighting you get to yourself.
Value
What the same itinerary costs against peak.
The case for it
Nobody else's wake-up time, nobody else's lunch stop, and the freedom to stay with a sighting for an hour because you want to. On a honeymoon this is the thing worth paying for, ahead of the room.
Twelve tents rather than sixty rooms. It costs more per night and it is the difference between feeling like a guest and feeling like a booking.
Safari days start before dawn. Doing that after a week of lying still on a beach is a shock; doing the beach afterwards is a reward. We build every one of these in that order.
Camps are generous to honeymooners when somebody asks properly and in advance. Upgrades are requested, never guaranteed — and we tell you what came back before you travel.
How we build it
A honeymoon is not a standard safari with flowers on the bed. Four things change, and they change at the planning stage rather than on arrival.
The commonest mistake on a honeymoon itinerary is too much movement. Every camp change costs a morning to packing and transfers. We build these with fewer, longer stays than a standard trip of the same length — you lose one park and gain three unhurried mornings.
A private vehicle is the single thing most worth paying for on a honeymoon. It means no shared wake-up time, no other party's lunch stop, and the freedom to stay with a leopard for an hour because you want to rather than because six people voted.
Small camps cost more per night and are the difference between feeling like a guest and feeling like a booking. On a honeymoon the room matters less than the number of other people at breakfast.
We write to each camp on your itinerary before you travel, tell them what the trip marks, and ask. Camps are consistently generous when somebody asks properly and early. Nothing is guaranteed, and we tell you what came back before you leave rather than letting you discover it on arrival.
In this collection
Every one is a starting shape we rebuild around your party and your exact dates. Nothing here is a fixed departure.

This page is the itineraries. The Honeymoon Special on the offers page is what we ask camps to add on top of them — they work together and neither replaces the other.
Proof of marriage and how recently you married affect what camps will offer. State what proof you require and how recent the wedding must be
Camps make up rooms in advance and a twelve-tent camp cannot reconfigure on arrival. Whether you want a double or twins, and whether you want a tent set apart from the others, are both things we can ask for weeks ahead and cannot fix on the day.
A camp ninety kilometres from the nearest shop cannot improvise a cake, a dietary requirement or a bottle of something particular. Anything you want on a specific night has to travel there with the supply run, which means telling us at booking rather than at check-in.
Honestly
Telling you a season is wrong for you costs us one booking and saves you a disappointing trip. Both columns are worth reading.

Common questions
No, though camps are more generous the closer you are to the date. Confirm the window you apply
The itinerary usually is, because it uses smaller camps and a private vehicle. The honeymoon treatment itself is requested, not charged.
Zanzibar for Stone Town, the spice farms and more choice of hotel. Pemba if you would rather have the ocean almost to yourselves and dive properly.
Nine to eleven nights is the shape that works: six or seven on safari and three or four on the coast. Under a week means either too little safari or a beach stop that ends before you have stopped moving.
We do it for you, in writing, before you travel. Telling them on arrival works far less well than a request made weeks ahead, because by then the room allocation is already made.
On a honeymoon, more than on any other trip. It is the difference between a schedule and a day of your own, and it is the thing guests mention afterwards more often than the room.
Yes, and it is a strong argument. The camps that are out of reach in August become affordable in February, the plains are green, and you will share sightings with almost nobody. The trade is afternoon storms and slightly harder game viewing.
Dates, how long you have, and whether you would rather end on a beach or in the bush. We will build it from there.
