Family package

Per head, a family safari gets cheaper as the party grows. Here is where the money actually falls away.

Offer OFF-06

Children cost less, and so does the fourth adult

Children aged 5 to 15 take 50% off our charges, and under-5s travel free. That is on top of the reduced park entry fee that TANAPA already charges for children aged 5 to 15 — a real saving that applies whoever you book with, and which honest operators pass on rather than pocket.

The larger effect is the vehicle. A private Land Cruiser costs the same with two people in it or six, so the cost per head falls sharply with every extra traveller. A family of five pays far less each than a couple does.

Where the money goes

The vehicle is the whole economics

Park fees are per person and cannot be avoided, though children pay less. Accommodation is per bed. But the two biggest lines on a private safari — the guide and the vehicle — are fixed, and they get divided by however many of you are in the car.

This is why we push families toward a private vehicle rather than treating it as an upgrade. With five or six of you it is often cheaper per head than joining a shared departure, and it lets you set your own pace, which with children is not optional.

Above about six travelling together, a sole-use house usually beats separate rooms on price as well as on sanity. Ask us to quote both.

Terms & conditions

  1. Child rates apply to our charges only. Park entry for children aged 5 to 15 is set by TANAPA and already reduced; under-5s are ordinarily free but may not enter some parks for game drives.
  2. The Serengeti sets a minimum age of five for game drives and most camps set six. See our Family Safari page for what each age can do.
  3. Children under 12 share a room with at least one adult. Family or interconnecting rooms are requested at every camp and confirmed in writing before you pay.
  4. Offers apply to new bookings only and cannot be applied retrospectively.
  5. One offer per booking. Offers cannot be combined with each other unless we say so in writing.
  6. Subject to availability at the time of booking. An offer does not hold a camp or a seat — a deposit does.
  7. Park and conservation fees are set by TANAPA and the NCAA and are never discounted. Any saving applies to our own charges.
  8. We reserve the right to withdraw an offer at any time. A booking already confirmed keeps the terms it was confirmed on.
