We reduce the single supplement by 50% on private and lodge-based safaris all year outside 20 December to 5 January, and waive it entirely on joining departures where you are willing to share a twin.

Some honesty about why the supplement exists at all: camps charge per tent, not per person. A solo traveller in a twin tent leaves a bed unsold and the camp bills for it either way. Typical supplements run 30 to 40 per cent of the accommodation portion. That is real cost, not a penalty we invented — but it can be reduced, and most operators simply pass it on in full.

Two ways to do it

Share the vehicle, keep the room

Solo travellers are the best guests on a shared vehicle — genuinely interested, easy about timings, and the first to talk to everyone at dinner. The industry rewards them by charging more. It is the thing we like least about how safaris are priced.

There are two honest ways out of it. Take a joining departure and share a twin tent with another solo traveller of the same sex, and there is no supplement at all. Or take a joining departure and pay a reduced supplement for a tent of your own.

On a private safari the supplement is unavoidable — you are buying the whole vehicle — but we will always quote both options rather than assuming.

Terms & conditions

  1. Twin-share matching is with a traveller of the same sex. If nobody suitable is on the departure we will tell you and you will not be charged a supplement you did not agree to.
  2. The reduced supplement applies to accommodation only. Park fees are per person and unaffected.
  3. The 50% reduction covers private and lodge-based safaris all year, peak season included, except 20 December to 5 January. Joining twin share carries no supplement at any time.
  4. Offers apply to new bookings only and cannot be applied retrospectively.
  5. One offer per booking. Offers cannot be combined with each other unless we say so in writing.
  6. Subject to availability at the time of booking. An offer does not hold a camp or a seat — a deposit does.
  7. Park and conservation fees are set by TANAPA and the NCAA and are never discounted. Any saving applies to our own charges.
  8. We reserve the right to withdraw an offer at any time. A booking already confirmed keeps the terms it was confirmed on.
