How much does a 7 day Tanzania safari cost?

The rate depends on your group size and which accommodation tier you choose, and it moves with the season. The table above sets out the per-person price for every group size from one to six. Our rates for this itinerary are to be confirmed — ask us and we will quote for your exact dates rather than give you a range.

Is seven days enough for a Tanzania safari?

Yes, for the northern circuit. Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti sit along one road, so a seven-day trip covers them without backtracking. What seven days is not enough for is adding the southern parks or the western chimpanzee reserves — those need their own trip.

When is the best time to do this itinerary?

June to October for concentrated dry-season game and the northern Serengeti river crossings, or January to March for the calving season and fewer vehicles. November is a good, quieter compromise. We do not recommend April or May for this route.

Will we see the Great Migration?

Probably, but where depends on the month, and no honest operator will promise a river crossing on a given day. The herds follow rain. Tell us your dates and we will tell you where they are likely to be and re-shape the route toward them.

Is this safari suitable for children?

It is a private safari, so it can be. The relevant limits are the long drive days and the minimum age some camps set. Tell us the ages and we will tell you plainly whether this route works or whether a shorter one would be better. Child rates are to be confirmed.

How much driving is there each day?

Three of the seven days are transfers and four are spent in the parks. Exact drive times for this itinerary are to be confirmed — we will give you a realistic figure rather than an optimistic one, because the difference between four hours and seven is the difference between a good day and a bad one.

Do I need vaccinations for Tanzania?

Yellow fever is required only if you are arriving from a country where it is endemic — not from Europe or North America. Beyond that, speak to a travel clinic six weeks before you fly. Malaria prophylaxis is normally advised for all of northern Tanzania.

Can I extend the trip to Zanzibar?

Yes, and it is the most common extension. Flights from Arusha and Kilimanjaro take under two hours and run daily. Three to five nights on the coast is the usual shape. Rates are to be confirmed.

Can the itinerary be changed?

Yes. This is a private safari and the route is a starting point, not a fixed departure. Adding a night, swapping a park, or rebuilding the whole week around where the migration actually is are all normal requests.

From enquiry to on the plains

The form above asks six things: what kind of safari, which places, when, who is coming, roughly what you want to spend, and how to reach you. Approximate answers are fine — dates and budget move, and we would rather start from something honest than something tidy.

We send a costed proposal

Within one working day, and usually the same day. A day-by-day route, named camps at your tier, the total per person, and what is not in it. Written against your dates and your group, not pulled off a shelf.

You change whatever you like

Almost nobody takes the first version. Move a night, swap a park, drop the balloon, add Zanzibar. There is no charge for redrafting and no limit on how many times, because this is the part where the trip actually gets designed.

You confirm, and we run it

A deposit holds the camps. Our own vehicles and our own salaried guides run the safari, so when the animals do something unexpected we can change the plan that morning rather than ask permission from a third party.

Built around where the herds actually are in your month — calving on the southern plains from December, the Mara crossings from late July. From $3,750.

The single most useful thing you can include in a first message is your month of travel and how many of you there are. With those two, we can tell you immediately whether what you are imagining is possible at the price you have in mind — and if it is not, we would rather say so at the start than at the end.

We are on East Africa Time, which is GMT+3. Messages sent overnight from Europe are usually answered before lunch, and messages from North America are usually answered before you wake up.

Before you fill it in

The ones people ask before they trust a form with their holiday.

Does this cost anything?

No. There is no planning fee, no booking fee and no charge for redrafts. We are paid by margin on the safari itself, which means we only earn anything if you like the proposal enough to travel on it.

How quickly will you reply?

Within one working day, and most often the same day. If your dates are inside eight weeks, say so in the message and we will move it to the front of the queue — camp availability at short notice changes hourly.

I do not know my dates yet. Should I still enquire?

Yes. Give us a month, or even a season. Half the value of a first proposal is finding out that February and August produce completely different trips for the same money, and that is easier to show than to explain.

I do not know my budget either.

Then say so and skip that step. It helps us, but it is not a gate. As a rough anchor: a week on the northern circuit at the comfort tier starts around $4,680 per person sharing, and the same week in small fly-in camps runs several times that.

Will I be handed to a call centre?

No. We are Arusha-based and Tanzanian-owned. The vehicles, the guides and the office are ours. The person who answers your enquiry is the person who plans the trip, and they will still be reachable while you are on it.

What if I want to change everything after you have sent it?

That is the normal case, not the awkward one. Almost nobody takes the first draft. Redrafting is the part where the trip actually gets designed, and there is no charge and no limit.

Do you sell fixed-departure group trips as well?

Yes, for travellers who would rather share the cost — joining safaris in a shared 4×4 on set dates, group Kilimanjaro climbs, and shared Zanzibar packages. Mention it in the form and we will quote both so you can compare.
